The Need for Speed
We love Corvettes (and classic cars in general)! So much so, that when we were pregnant with our first child (proof positive as I was about 20 weeks in this photo), we bought our second! #savethewave #iykyk
Meet Dara
Dara retired from the U.S. Air Force in June 2023 after 20 years as a logistician. Dara joined eventPower initially as an intern for her last six months in the military via the DoD Skillbridge Program and is now a permanent eventPower team member. The DoD Skillbridge Program provides opportunities for military Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience and connect with industry partners prior to leaving the military.
Fun Facts
If you could have dinner with anyone (current or historical), who would it be and where would you go?
I would want to spend time with Mother Theresa. I'm guessing a meal out at a fancy restaurant wouldn't quite be her style so maybe breaking bread and a cup of coffee would suffice. I know where she found her inspiration ultimately, to be able to minister to the poorest communities in our world, but I would love to hear it from her lips in hopes of emulating her willingness to give and serve others.
Were you named after anyone?
My grandmother's name was Darinka (Dah-rin-kuh). Her parents, born in the former Yugoslavia, wanted her to have a name that was "more American" so they called her Dara. She always told my mother that no one would ever have her name and so my mom proved her wrong! It's pronounced like Sara.
What is the first concert that you went to and where?
The first concert (if I recall correctly) was to see Survivor at state fair in North Dakota with my mom and older brother. Loved them then, still on repeat today. The first concert that I asked to go to as a teenager, however, was Depeche Mode in Atlanta. I had purple hair and wore Doc Martens. I believe the term was "grunge" in 1994!
What sports team do you root for?
The Georgia Bulldogs! I was a fan long before they became BACK TO BACK College Football National Champions in 2021 and 2022 as well, as it's my alma mater. Go Dawgs!!
